It is hard to believe that we are staring into the face of winter already. The Otis Food Pantry enjoyed the most amazing harvest season this year. So many of our community and patrons shared their garden vegetables with us. I learned that Juliette tomatoes are the most beautiful shade of red, and that there is a squash that grows so big it could feed a very large family. Greens and tomatoes, cucumbers, squashes and eggplants; the bounty was overflowing. Everyone shared something and everyone left smiling. A donation of seeds ensured that our community garden and so many of our gardeners would have seeds to sow next season. We are so grateful to all of you who joined the pantry team in this way.
Now we turn to colder weather and comfort foods. Holiday baking supplies and Thanksgiving side dishes. We hope folks will begin thinking about simple favorite recipes to share for the December holidays as well.
We are thankful for everyone who continues to reach out to our pantry and to care for each other. Grocery costs are rising and there is more food insecurity than ever before. The pantry will be here for anyone who would like to visit. Otis Food Pantry has become much more than a place to pick up a little extra. It has become a true family for the people who volunteer, shop and donate. Thank you to everyone who is always there. Cheers.
