Join AMVETS for a Once-in-a-Generation Celebration of America's 250th

This summer, our community will have the opportunity to celebrate a remarkable milestone together as AMVETS Post 77 hosts a FREE day of patriotism, history, music, food, and family fun on Saturday, August 8. The celebration marks the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding while honoring the veterans whose service has helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy today.
The festivities begin at 12 noon with a wave parade departing from the Knox Trail Inn. Veterans and decorated vehicles will travel along Route 23 to the Izaak Walton Field, where everyone is encouraged to line the route and give our veterans the warm welcome they deserve. All veterans are invited to take part in the procession.
When the parade reaches the field at 12:30 pm, the celebration continues with the singing of the national anthem by Matt Gamelli.
Then, from 1 to 1:30 pm, local historians Tom Ragusa and friends will share the fascinating story of the historic Knox Trail, offering a glimpse into the rich history that shaped our corner of the Berkshires.
Starting at 2 pm, it's time to enjoy good food and good company with a traditional pig roast, hot dogs, hamburgers, and all the fixings.
The afternoon rolls on with live music by the Solar Eclipse Band from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, while music fills the grounds throughout the day.
There will also be plenty to keep the whole family smiling, including colonial-themed games, face painting, raffles, and contests for the best decorated car and best period costume. Commemorative T-shirts and hats will be available for those who'd like to take home a keepsake from this special occasion.
Best of all, admission is FREE! Whether you come to honor our veterans, learn a little local history, enjoy a delicious meal, or simply spend an afternoon with friends and neighbors, this promises to be one of those memorable community gatherings that brings people together.
As America celebrates its 250th birthday, AMVETS Post 77 invites everyone to join in a day of remembrance, gratitude, and Otis pride.
