Introduction and Statement of Purpose

The recently formed Otis Town Revitalization Committee has been charged by the Otis Select Board with exploring and developing a comprehensive strategy to revitalize our town.

To longtime Otis residents the idea is not a new one. The town has considered several improvement, development and preservation options since 1991, including a Community Development Plan in 2004 and a Town Master Plan in 2015. Although some items from those plans have been adopted successfully, the town is older now - not all of our needs and desires have changed, but time has altered the parameters. This committee plans to approach familiar and novel issues with a renewed validity and purpose.

Using Facebook, Instagram and the Otis Observer to provide updates, and live meetings to interact with the community, the committee primarily will focus on the enhancement of economic vitality, aesthetic appeal and overall quality of life within Otis, tailoring those goals to our current population.

Revitalization strategies developed with community input will assist our Select Board and Planning Board in aligning positive actions for the town's future. The Revitalization Committee seeks to promote and partner with other town committees and groups. Exploring areas of town infrastructure, services, economic opportunities and environment will lead to the development of projects that will have a positive impact on our physical town and our social cohesion.

It is the intention of the Revitalization Committee to obtain project funding through grants, negotiation and partnering, and to draw on state funding bills which directly benefit our community.

The Revitalization Committee meets on the fourth Monday of the month (except 5/19/25) at 10:00 a.m. in the town hall conference room. We welcome your participation.
