Town of Otis Revitalization Committee Updates

September 2025
In developing a comprehensive strategy to revitalize the town, the Otis Revitalization Committee is focused on several factors that contribute to the vibrant cohesion of a community. Foremost are the people who call Otis “home,” or “home away from home.”
Our ongoing Needs Assessment Survey is collecting the concerns and priorities of our community, and results will be analyzed and presented later this Fall.
Food Trucks have shown to be a great success this summer, not only as an additional dining option, but as a means of social gathering, enjoying a bite to eat with family and friends. We will continue this event through September.
If the environment, buildings, economy, infrastructure, physical well-being, and things-to-do are a town’s lifeblood, the meeting place is its heart. Otis recognized this when we voted to explore the parameters of constructing a new library space, meeting our expanded needs to gather and learn together. Progress for this project is updated on the Otis Library website.
Our Committee is dedicated to locating grants supporting town revitalization, including state grants specifically available to rural communities. We are exploring town walkability, contributing to greater public safety; looking at the feasibility of enhanced local health options; developing strategies to improve and expand business opportunities; exploring approaches to workforce housing; and promoting recreational potentials while preserving natural resources. We will soon update the status of our grant application for technical assistance in developing Otis’s downtown properties.
It is anticipated that these efforts will come together to increase support across Boards and Committees, and will benefit our entire community. Otis is THE Place to Be!
