Otis Food Pantry: November Update

Upcoming Recipe Giveaway

November 2026

Over the past few weeks, the Otis Food Pantry has looked a little bit different. We have been outside the front door of the Town Hall or across the front parking lot enjoying the early autumn weather and watching the Town Hall get a brand-new roof. For the safety of everyone who visits the Town Hall, the back door has been unavailable. As you read this, the roof is most likely complete and we have “”returned to our regularly scheduled program,” just in time for cold weather. Everyone who is involved in the pantry on either side of the table has pitched in to help make pantry day run smoothly. Town Maintenance staff ensured that our tables were available for us wherever they needed to be. Thank you to Eric, Matt, and Kyle! Volunteers who regularly pick up baked goods, fruits, vegetables, and dairy never missed a beat. Thank you, Larry, Brad, Mary Kay, Jane, and Mel! Pantry staff have put miles on as well, moving between the pantry and kitchen and the tables outside. Jane, Jane, Sarah, Kimberly, Nicole, Louise, and Terry have gotten their steps in every week. Town Hall staff could hear us coming, pushing the rolling shelf up and down the hallway. We appreciate everyone's patience as this important project proceeded.

The Community Garden and local gardeners have finished the harvest for this season, and we are grateful for the amazing produce that you shared with your neighbors. From greens to squash, tomatoes, even garlic, the pantry benefitted from beautiful local produce. In the last few weeks, we received extra bounty of winter butternut and acorn squash and pumpkins from Travis and Nicole, who picked and delivered carloads to the pantry. Huge shout out to everyone!

The pantry is grateful to have been part of the Halloween Trunk or Treat as well and hopes everyone enjoyed the event.

As always, we are thankful for the continued support of everyone in our amazing little town. Your care and kindness are humbling.

Holiday season is upon us, and the pantry is always looking for donations that make holidays easier for everyone. In addition to our regular requests which continue each week, we hope you will consider donating baking supplies and foods enjoyed during this time of year. The big blue box at the back door of Town Hall is available at any time for non-perishable donations.

Please be thinking about a special simple recipe for our annual recipe gift bag giveaway. Watch for the details in the Observer article and on our Facebook page next month. Cheers!

Monetary donations may be sent to the Otis Food Pantry, c/o M.K. Pinkham, PO Box 271, Otis, MA 01253. Follow us on Facebook at Otis Food Pantry. Our email is otisfoodpantry@gmail.com. The Otis Food Pantry is grateful for your continued support!
